Donetsk region celebrates the New Year

To the Saint Nicholas Day and New-year holidays 19 operating centers of social rehabilitation of children-invalids decorated the New-year trees. For children-invalids, who visit centers, are organized holiday dinners. Due to charitable resources the children received gifts.
 In January 2008 the following regional holiday actions will take place:
- 04.01.2008 - celebration of Christmas. This day will bring the children-invalids and pupils of boarding schools the Christmas holiday with handing of gifts;
- 09.01.2008 - for the children of privileged categories will be performance “Christmas carols” with participation of the Donetsk regional council chairman A.M. Blyznjyk and Metropolitan of the Donetsk and Mariupol Ilarion (Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchship);
- 10.01.2008 - for children from boarding-schools of regional community property a new-year fairy-tale will be with handing of gifts;
- 05.01. – 14.01.2008 a number of sport actions and competitions will take place. Thus, 05.01.2008 the new-year starts will be held among boys and girls of 1995, 1996, 1997 years of birth in track and field athletics; 11.01. – 12.01.2008 is the championship of region among boys of 1991 – 1992, 1993 – 1994 years of birth in track and field athletics; 04.01. – 06.01.2008 is the championship of the Donetsk region among boys and girls of 1991 – 1992 years of birth in fighting samba; 09.01.2008 is the championship of the Donetsk region in chess; 3.01. – 06.01.2008 is the championship of the Donetsk region in draughts 100; 11.01. – 14.01.2008 is the championship of the region in draughts 64; 03.01. – 06.01.2008 is the championship and cup of the region in dives; 03.01. – 06.01.2008 is the championship of region in powerlifting.
It is planned that about 16 450 children will take part in the regional actions devoted to the New-year and Christmas holidays.
According to the Plan of the New-year and Christmas holidays for children in towns and districts of the region it is planned to improve health of 1512 kids. Thus, beginning from 29.12.2007 till 10.01.2008 leisure is organized for 1000 children in children' health establishments “Krasnaja gvozdyka”, “Donetsk orlja”, “Orljatko”, “Smarahdove misto” (Святогірськ, Slov’jans’k district), and also 500 children’ health will be improved in children' health-resorts of Ukraine and other countries.
During January of 2008 the following holiday actions will take place in towns and districts:
- 01.01. – 12.01.2008 –celebration near the central new-year trees with handing of gifts to the children of privileged categories in towns and districts;
- 01.01. – 12.01.2008 – holiday mornings will be for kids and children of privileged categories in educational establishments. There will be shows-programs, evenings of rest, children' performances, new-year holidays for children, folk merrymaking (Dobropillja town, Selidove town, Makijivka town, Konstantyniv, Artemivs’k districts and etc.) and other actions;
- 03.01. – 11.01.2008 – children' actions  devoted to Christmas will begin in towns and districts of the region. There will be staging Christmas Nativity Plays, musically-entertaining and competitive-entertaining programs, Christmas carols with participation of the children from schools and preschool establishments, competitions and exhibitions of children' works, folk quizzes, evenings, holidays-festivals, a number of actions with handing of the Christmas gifts to the children of privileged categories (Konstantynivka town, Donetsk city, Krasnoarmijs’k town, Selidove town, Pershotravnevyj district and etc.) and other actions in cultural establishments.
During the new-year and Christmas holidays groups and sporting sections will work, school sport competitions in basket-ball, volley-ball, mini-football, chess, draughts will be organized, the excursions for children of privileged categories and students to the palace of sport “Druzhba”, museum of regional ethnography, botanical garden, circus “Kosmos” (Donetsk city), and other excursions and new-year trips for children will take place in towns and districts of the region.
