The 14th of December is the Day of honoring of the participants in liquidation the accident results on the Chernobyl atomic power station

Today is the Day of honoring of the participants in liquidation the accident results on the Chernobyl atomic power station that, according to the Ukrainian President Decree, is marked annually on the 14th of December, on the ending day of sarcophagus’ building over the destroyed fourth power-generating unit of Chernobyl APS.
Many years the main priority of the social state policy is the social citizens’ protection, suffered from the Chernobyl APS.

In 2007 there are 27.1 thousands of citizens, suffered from the Chernobyl APS, registered in the Donetsk region, including disabled people – 6.8 thousands people; participants of liquidation the accident results on the CAPS – 11.5 thnds. people; evacuated and resettles – 2.2 thnds. people; children – 5.6 thnds. people; families that lost their breadwinner – near 1 thnds. people.

It should be mentioned, that the period from 2004 to 2007 the financing of program expenditures, connected with the social protection of the population, suffered from Chernobyl catastrophe, increases, that is from 35.9 mln. hrn. in 2004 to 55.3 mln. hrn. in 2007.

According to the Law of Ukraine “About the State budget of Ukraine for 2007” for the program realization, connected with the protection of the citizens, suffered from Chernobyl catastrophe, that are foreseen by the Law of Ukraine “About the status and social protection of the citizens, suffered from Chernobyl catastrophe” there is a financing amounting 55.3 mln. hrn., which is 4.4% more than in 2006 in the region.   
There created the system of medical and social rehabilitation of the suffered population in the region.
The system of medical and social rehabilitation of the suffered allows making clinical examination, to find out diseases on the early stages, to provide inheritance in the work of region curative-prophylaxis establishments, to contribute to working and social rehabilitation of the citizens, suffered from the accident on Chernobyl APS.
Within 11 months in his year the region received 54.8 mln. hrn., which are fully used according to the programs, foreseen for the payments of compensations to the citizens, suffered from the accident on Chernobyl APS, for food, payments of the higher scholarship, to families with children and for costless nutrition, because of the harm coursed to health, annual help for improvement of health, providing with costless medicaments and complex medical-sanitary providing.
In 2007 purchasing of sanitary and health resort vouchers for the citizens, suffered from the accident on Chernobyl APS, is made by the Ministry of the labor and social policy of Ukraine.
This year 1770 citizens, including 1263 children, suffered from the accident on Chernobyl APS, were sanitated and medicated in sanatoriums of the Yevpatoria, Truskavets’, Alushta, Yalta, Sak, Poltava, Lviv, Sumy, Kyiv, Ternopil’, Volyn’, Cherkasy and Kherson regions.
In order to fulfill the Ukrainian President Decree dating the 10th of November 2006 №945/2006 “About the honoring the participants of the liquidation the accident results on the Chernobyl APS”, to denote the courage, self-sacrifice and high professionalism of the participants of the liquidation the accident results on the Chernobyl APS and on the occasion of the Day of the honoring the participants of the liquidation the accident results on the Chernobyl APS, which is celebrated on the 14th of December 2007 by the instruction of the Donetsk RSA chairman there prepared such measures as following:
- putting flowers to the Memorial of Chernobyl Glory in Donetsk city and to the memorable symbols in towns and districts of the region;
- meetings of the region towns and districts leadership with the participants of the liquidation the accident results on the Chernobyl APS in order to find out social problems and take measures to solve them;
-  providing with the material help from the assets of Donetsk region social organization “Ukrainian Chernobyl Union”;
- organization of the children drawings exhibition “Chernobyl by the eyes of children” and new displays in the museum of Donetsk ecological and economical gymnasium, memory lessons of Chernobyl catastrophe in region educational establishments with participation of the members of the liquidation the accident results on the Chernobyl APS and the fulfillment of the exhibition;
- organization of the New Year’s shows in towns and districts of the region with presents for the children of the members of the liquidation the accident results on the Chernobyl APS.
