Regional holiday of boarding school pupils “Let’s support the creative growth of disabled children”
Today the assistant of Donetsk RSA chairman Olena Petryajeva took part in the regional holiday of boarding school pupils of regional communal property “Let’s support the creative growth of disabled children”.
Olena Petryajeva congratulated with the best words and wishes the pupils of boarding schools.
Delegations from all region towns and districts, permanent sponsors, Mass Media representatives, pupils and teachers of boarding schools took also part in the holiday.
Pupils from 46 boarding schools and 4 children's homes of the regional communal property demonstrated handmade goods of arts and crafts on the children’s goods fair that acted during the holiday. Every visitor had a chance to buy the art creation made by child hands. Working collective and children’s self-government conference will decide how to use the money.
During gala concert talented pupils of regional boarding schools, winners of the traditional competitions “Believe in yourself”, “We can everything” and “Dare, you are talented!” appeared on the stage.
Also congratulated: dance ensemble “Hope” of the Amvrosiyivs’k boarding school (supervisor Ludmyla Maymeskul), motion song ensemble of the Mariupol’ boarding school for those who are deaf and hard of hearing (supervisor Larisa Pesarenko), circus show of the group “Arlekin” of the Donetsk boarding school №9 for deaf children 9supervisor Natalia Korychko), dance ensemble “Varenyky” of the Donetsk boarding school №4 for children with hard hearing (supervisor Olena Humenyuk), dance ensemble “Tender” of the Snizhnyans’k boarding school for mentally disabled children (supervisor Lyudmyla Pichuhina) and others.
All participants of the holiday received gifts and sweets.
Reference: there are near one million children in the region. The most unprotected categories, which need social, medical, psychological-pedagogical, law support and help from the state and society, are orphans, children deprived of parents care and disabled children. Nowadays there are 10553 disabled children in the oblast. There created boarding schools net of the oblast communal property, to which 37 specialized boarding institutions for physically and mentally disabled children, are included. They are the following:
• 8 boarding schools for the physically disabled children:
- 3 schools for children with hearing defects – Donetsk city, Mariupol’ town, they include 422 children;
- 1 school for the children with support-efferent apparatus defects – Donetsk city – 117 children;
- 1 school for blind and with weak eyesight children – Slovyans’k town – 143 children;
- 3 schools for children with serious articulation apparatus defects – Donetsk city, Horlivka town, Kramators’k town. They include 618 children;
• 3 children's homes:
- 1 – for children with mental defects – Slovyans’k town - 52 children;
- 1 – for children with articulation defects – Kramators’k town - 51 children;
- 1 – compensatorytype – Mariupol’ town - 57 children;
• 22 boarding schools for mentally disabled children (auxiliary schools), in which are 3053 children;
• 4 boarding schools for orphans and children deprived of parents care, with mental defects. They include 712 children.
Especially sore subject is the entry into the society of previously mentioned children categories. The best protection of minors is and will be the creation of accessibility to the qualitative education and preparing pupils to the life in new social conditions. The complexity of the work with children of socially sensitive category needs a detailed research of every child, personal approach and attention.
For the solution of this problem in the oblast acts the only one psychological medical and pedagogical map of observation. It is filled by specialists from out-of-school and curative establishments, psychologists and pedagogues. Map is constantly added with new data about the child development and on this basis methodical recommendations are worked out; consulting help to boarding school workers is given.
A special role in the region plays health centre of social rehabilitation “Emerald town”, on the basis of which the Laboratory of innovation researches acts, where technological models and diagnostic methods of learning-rehabilitative activity are worked out and probed.
Permanently is working following and support of talented youth of a mentioned category. Annually local and regional works competitions of decorative-applied, artistic, sport directions, small Paralympics for disabled children are held. Systematically actions “Create the good” for assignment the address help for children of privileged category are implemented. During the last three years materially-technical base of boarding schools of the regional communal property considerably improved: sleeping and class furniture were renewed, correction-developing and medical-technological equipment was obtained.
