Explosion on tenant enterprise “Charles Marx Mine” of the state coal enterprise “Ordzhonikidzeuhol”: at 08:00 a.m.

On June 8, 2008, at 5:00 a.m. there happened an explosion on the mine named after Charles Marx on horizon 1000м. As a result of explosion there was torn off cage in an elevating mine shaft, the lifting building and pit head of air mine shaft № 2 are destroyed.

The reason of explosion is under process of settlement.

 

At the moment of the accident 37 persons were in mine. 5 persons, suffered on a surface of mine, are hospitalized in medical establishments.

At 3:50 in the mornings, 09.06.08, from 750 m. horizon 2 miners have been lifted on a surface with the help of skip mine shaft: Ivan Ivanovych Koval - explosive materials servicer and Mykola Mykolayovych Vitenko - the master-explosives expert. The injured are in a satisfactory condition and are directed to hospital № 2 in Yenakievo city.

Also, there was found Vadym Mykhaylovych Lytvynenko – machinist of underground installation, on horizon 750 m. with no signs of life.

Now salvage operations on installation of mobile lifting device for descent of rescuers on an emergency mine shaft are conducted.

The governmental commission led by the first vice-prime-minister- А.V. Turchynov works on the mine.
