Days of Georgian culture in Donetsk region
Donetsk regional society of the Georgians “Rustaveli” under leadership of Yosyp Oleksandrovych Machavariani with support of RSA Nationalities’ department and Governance of culture and tourism carry out Days of Georgian culture in Donetsk region.
The aim of the regional world cultural action is the following:
• strengthening of friendship among nations of Ukraine and Georgia;
• propaganda of the original Georgian culture, its history, traditions, customs among Donetsk citizens;
• support of young talented executers – representatives of different nationalities;
• educating of young generation taking as an example Georgian culture and art.
On the 11th of December 2007, there was solemn opening of Georgian culture days in Donetsk region in Horkyj Culture Palace. According to program actions, there were children drawings’ exhibition, festivals, competitions and charitable actions.
During this time Donbass was visited by stars and culture representatives of Georgia, namely Sukhumi drama theatre, National Georgian ballet “Sukhishvili”, S. Pavliashvili and others.
With the support of Donetsk RSA, city council together with Company “OMEGA-artmedia” was held charitable action “Children to children” in the culture house “Yunist’” on the 22nd of March, 2008. According to actions, there were performances of children choreographic ensemble “Shedgybri”, laureate of the state Georgian folk boys’ chore “Mertve”, Kyiv theatre of song “Fantasy”, young talented girl – representative of Georgian Diaspora in Donetsk region – Kurashvili Tamriko and model ensemble of modern dance “Veres” (leader – Zaval’na S.L.). Donetsk region leadership, Donetsk mayor and Donetsk region House of culture workers presented children-participants of the concert with memorable souvenirs.
During Georgian culture days, central event was the Donetsk RSA supported organization of the opened Georgian culture festival-competition “Tsyskari of Donbass”. Selection rounds of this festival were held on the 12th of January 2008 in Culture House “Chaika” (Mariupol city) and on the 3rd of February 2008 in Culture House “Zapereval’nyj” (Donetsk city). Competitions determined the winners of areas – participants of the final concert.
On the 12th of April 2008, at 14.00 p.m. will be held solemn closure of Georgian culture days and summing up of festival-competition “Tsyskari of Donbass” (gala-concert).
The participation of honorable guests in solemn actions is planned: Deputy Minister in the sphere of monument protection of Georgian culture and sport M. Davitaya, Georgian Ambassador in Ukraine Z. Nishnianidze, representatives of Donetsk RSA and Donetsk city council executive power organs, and activists of region public ethnic society organizations.
In gala-concert program were:
• presentation of short footage film about Georgia;
• presentation of brochure “It is for you, contemporary, the word about Georgia”, devoted to Georgian culture and its prominent representatives;
• winners’ performances of festival-competition rounds – representatives of Donetsk city, Makiyivka, Mariupol, Kharkiv, Vuhledar and others;
• winners’ determination of the competition in nominations: “Vocal”, “The best drawing for Georgian thematic” and rewarding of winners with precious presents.
Among participants of the final festival round were: laureates of the international and regional competitions : Tymur Yeremadze, Tamriko Kurashvili, model ensemble of modern dances “Veres” (leader – S.L. Zaval’na), Olena Diamandi (representative of the Donetsk F. Stambuldzhi Greek society), quartet “Magnifikat”, Chapodze Zhuzhuna and Berulova Tsyra (representatives of the Kharkiv national social society “Georgia”), Kazaryan Rymma and Matevasyan Yerevand (representatives of the Donetsk region Armenian society) and many others.
