It’s easy to do business in Donbass! Foreign companies coming here to work know that Donbass is the region worth to invest. The region with advanced economics transforms its heavy industry into a modern production. Diversification of regional economics is achieved through the development of innovative technologies in all sectors of the economy. The regional authorities develop tourism business as well.
Highly developed roads, rail and air communications, as well as the port of Mariupol which gives the access to the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Basin, create favorable conditions for business activity in the Donetsk region.
The Consulate General of Germany, the Czech Republic and Greece, Honorary Consulate of Austria, the Netherlands, Cyprus, Lithuania and Slovakia wok in the region.
American food company Cargill, a French construction company Lafarge Gypsum, a German company producing construction materials Knauf Gypsum Donbas, a joint Italian-Ukrainian company Zeus Ceramics (Emilceramica) and many others do successful business here.

Banking System
Banking system in Donetsk region is presented by 91 banks in total amount of all operating in Ukraine.
Donetsk regional banking system consists of 112 bank and bank affiliates. The biggest of them are PromInvestBank, UkrSocBank, UkrExImBank, Saving Bank.
In terms of banks' corporate clients Donetsk region takes third place in Ukraine, yielding only to Kyiv and Kyiv region and Dnepropetrovsk.
Banking network covers almost all cities and towns in the region. But the half of banks and branches surely is concentrated in the heart of Donbass, the city of Donetsk.
In general, each of 2,5 thousand people in Donetsk region have a banking institution.
Industrial Complex
So many epithets devoted to Donbass: all-Union stoke-hole, the centre of the coal industry, an industrial pearl, the backbone of Ukraine, the staff smithy, the earth of heroes, business capital, and sport centre.
The industrial potential makes the basis for economic complex of the region and takes the important place in economy of Ukraine.
The coal industry is presented by 95 coal-mining enterprises (27 of them – private property) and 28 operating concentrating factories. The coal-mining productive capacity of enterprises is 40 million tons coal per year, balance industrial coal reserve - 14 billion tons. In accordance to the program of coal branch restructuring non-perspective mines are to be closed in the nearest future.
In metallurgical complex work companies producing ferrous metals, making ready metal products and the trumpet factory. This complex is presented also by 7 chemical-recoveries, 3 fluxing and 10 fire-resistant enterprises.
The basic articles of metallurgical production are rerolling cast iron, bloom, hire of various profiles, pipes, steel ropes, etc.
The important for the economic complex of Ukraine enterprises of nonferrous metallurgy are also concentrated in the region.
This branch includes the companies producing hire of nonferrous metals and copper alloys, based on alloys of iron, nickel, cobalt, lead, mercury. Specific weight of export metallurgical production in total amount of the region export forms over 70 %.
The chemical and petrochemical companies produce: chemical fertilizers, ammonia, polystyrene, acids, output for military-industrial complex, the household chemical goods, pharmaceutical articles, etc.
Machine-building complex is presented by more than 200 enterprises completely satisfying state requirement in shaft-sinking equipment, production of household refrigerators, washing machines, gas cookers and so on.
The food industry specializes on the production of meat, dairy, baking, flour-and-cereals, confectionary, macaroni, fish, fruits and vegetables; alcoholic, wine-making, bear nonalcoholic production.
The agriculture complex farms approximately 2 million hectares of fertile lands. In agriculture there are 534 enterprises and 1,6 thousand farms. The economics specializes on cultivation grain, sunflower, vegetable-growing, milk production, meat and poultry farming.
Business. The companies of the region produce household appliances, furniture, crockery, textile, sewing and knitted products, footwear, etc. 10,0% of total sales of products (works, services) over the region accounts to small business.
